Pyramid Analytics provides four report “workspaces” that allow you to customize which report and tool panels are visible to you.
First, let’s take a look at the different panels and then we’ll discuss how each of the four workspaces organizes these panels.
The “quick access toolbar” is a customizable toolbar that enables you to save, undo and redo actions, access online help from the vendor, collapse or open the “Ribbon Panel” and customize the toolbar.
The “ribbon panel” is where you will find tools to manipulate your report. You can click the tabs to temporarily reveal Ribbon panel tools. You can reveal and pin the “Ribbon Panel” by clicking the minimize/maximize control on the “Quick Access Toolbar.”
The “report tree panel” shows a hierarchical list of all the reports contained within the current book.
The report window is where your report is displayed. This is also where you will find slicers that allow you to filter your report.
The selections, hierarchies and elements panels are what you use to perform complex data manipulation.
You can “pin” or “unpin” panels to collapse or reveal these panels. When collapsed, you can access the panel by clicking the vertical panel buttons. To pin the panel open, click the pin icon in the panel. You can hide the panel by clicking the pin icon.
Now let’s discuss the four “workspaces” and how these organize the panels.
The “Lite” workspace provides the cleanest view of your report with access to slicers for filtering. The Lite workspace is the default report view when you open a report from the report directory.
At the top right of the screen in the Lite workspace you should see three arrow buttons and the Pyramid icon that re-runs reports. The left and right arrow buttons navigate you through the book of reports from one report to the next.
The down arrow is how you exit the Lite workspace into other workspaces to manipulate, print and save your report.
In the “Viewer workspace,” you’ll notice the “quick access toolbar” at the top of the screen, that the ribbon is collapsed, the report panel is pinned open on the left side of the screen and the selections, hierarchies and elements panels are collapsed on the right side of the screen.
You can open the ribbon by clicking the minimize/maximize control that looks like an up or down pointer in the “quick access toolbar.” You can also temporarily view items in the ribbon by clicking the tabs. For example, if you want to reset your report and the ribbon isn’t open, you can click the “home” tab, then click the bottom part of the “Query Reset” button and select “Report Reset.”
To navigate among workspaces, open the ribbon or click on the “home” tab to access the “Workspace Type” button. Click the bottom part of the “Workspace Type” button to reveal a drop-down menu with the four workspaces. You’ll see a checkmark next to the current workspace.
Now let’s take a look at the “Analytic” workspace by selecting it from the “Workspace Type” drop-down menu.
The “analytic” workspace reveals the panels used for data manipulation. You’ll see the “quick access toolbar” and open ribbon at the top of the screen. The “report tree panel” is collapsed on the left side of the screen and the “Selections, Elements and Hierarchies” panels are open on the right side of the screen. You’ll notice tabs at the bottom right of the screen to view elements or hierarchies.
